Using Cinematic Techniques to Enhance Reader Engagement
A Talk by Karen Kasaba (Guided Writing Journeys)
About this Talk
Writers invite readers into the dream we’ve created on the page – and we want them to stay until the end. Films traditionally emulate dreams – even the average length of a film, 90 minutes, is the same length as the average REM sleep dream state.
Based on my experience as an Emmy-nominated screenwriter and writing coach, I’ll highlight some of the ways cinematic techniques can be adapted to narrative prose to elevate craft and heighten reader engagement.
