About this speaker
Judy’s love for stories began when she read books by flashlight and watched classic films as a kid.
That love for stories continued in daily newspapers, where she learned the power of storytelling to transform lives. She’s worked for The Denver Post and The Dallas Morning News, written freelance articles for The Washington Post and AOL, and served twice on a Pulitzer Prize jury, including once as chair.
Judy has written three YA novels inspired by the ancient Near East where she learned tons about building worlds. When she first saw the reliefs at the Institute for the Study of Ancient Cultures Museum in Chicago, and the date palms in Israel, she felt like her story had come to life!
Since then, she’s celebrated the value of creating incredible story worlds that can shape characters and drive interesting plots.
